Mrs. Sherry Savage
Hello! My name is Mrs. Savage and this is my 24th year teaching. I've been teaching in Habersham County for the past 15 years but previously taught in Hall County. I have taught numerous grade K-5, spent time as an instructional coach, and once taught in a Spanish dual-immersion program. However, third grade is my favorite by far! I’ve been married to my husband, Justin, for 22 years and have 2 children; Jackson and Emily. My son is a college student this year at Georgia Tech, so I'm trading in my black and red for gold and blue! Emily is in tenth grade and keeps us busy on a soccer field somewhere!
I attended North Georgia College and State University where I earned a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I also have a specialist’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College and am gifted endorsed.
My philosophy is that children work harder when there is a level of mutual respect. I have high expectations for my students and feel that students will put forth effort when they feel valued and have goals that are attainable. My goal is to foster a love of learning, create an environment where students are engaged, and an atmosphere where your child's interests and learning style is embraced. My intent is for students to leave third grade feeling empowered as a learner, confident enough to take risks, and having grown both socially, emotionally, and academically. It's true that students will RISE to the challenge when they are set up for success and supported by all invested parties!
